Bandits kill six in Katsina attack

Bandits have reportedly killed six persons and kidnapped two others at Jargaba community, in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident occurred late Thursday as gunmen in large numbers stormed the community and headed to a public area where men usually sit to socialise and shot sporadically, killing six men who were seated.

Confirming the attack to City Round, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said, “Yes, bandits attacked the community and shot people but two died on the spot while four of them who were injured yesterday but were also confirmed dead today making a total of six people that were killed.

“But, as for the kidnapping incident, I’m not sure whether I will contact the DPO to confirm with him.”

The lawmaker representing the council in the state House of Assembly, Abdulrahman Ahmed, who also confirmed the incident, lamented about the security challenges bedevilling the community and council area.

“After the assailants left, it was discovered that two children had also been killed in the course of the attack. In addition, it is suspected that they abducted two individuals from a nearby house,” Ahmed said.
