BASG to construct hall, additional hostels at NYSC camp

Governor Bala Mohammed led administration in  Bauchi state has promised to expand the multi-purpose hall and upgrade the administrative block at the orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Wailo, Ganjuwa local government of the state.

The governor made the commitment on Monday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 batch C, stream 2 corps members posted to the state.

Represented by Commissioner of Housing and Environment Hamisu Shuaibu Shira, Mohammed promised that the project will be embarked on or before the end of this year. He said the ongoing construction of two additional hostels will also be completed in a good time.

” Bauchi state holds dear the aims and objectives of the NYSC scheme and this informs our conscious policy of sustained upgrading of facilities at the NYSC orientation camp which is the first point of call for corps members deployed to the state.

” This fundamentally is to create an ambiance for conducive training and learning. In this respect, we will continue to strengthen the scheme so as to increase its capacity to deliver on its mandate of fostering the bond of cohesion and integration”. The governor said.

Earlier, the state NYSC coordinator Shehu Bashir explained that by the close of registration, a total of 939 corps members including 498 males and 441 females were registered at the camp.

He said the orientation course the members will undergo at the camp is the foundation of NYSC programmes meant to prepare them adequately to confront the challenges of the service year.
