Bauchi police arrest 15-year-old cattle rearer for amputating farmer’s hand

Story from Ahmad SAKA, Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended 15-year-old Adamu Ibrahim for amputating a farmer’s left hand after the farmer trespassed onto the suspect’s farmland with his livestock.

SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, made this announcement in a statement distributed to reporters in Bauchi.

He stated, “Operatives from the Area Command Metro have arrested Adamu Ibrahim of Jital village along the Gombe road, Bauchi state, on charges of trespass, mischief, and causing grievous harm.”

Wakil explained that “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had repeatedly trespassed onto the victim’s farmland with his cows while he was rearing them. The unfortunate incident occurred following several complaints made by the victim to the suspect’s father about the intrusions into his rice farmland.”

Furthermore, he disclosed that “On the 24th of August, 2023, the suspect, armed with a stick and machete, maliciously invaded the victim’s farmland, causing damage to crops of yet-to-be-determined value.

A dispute ensued, during which the suspect stabbed the victim after being asked to vacate the farmland. Consequently, the victim’s left hand was severed when the suspect drew his machete.”
