Boko Haram attack kills 40, dozens missing in Borno

At least 40 farmers were reportedly killed by suspected Boko Haram militants in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack occurred around 4:30 pm on Sunday in Kayakura village, located in the Doron Baga ward, with dozens of farmers also reported missing. This incident follows a similar attack the previous day in Chibok community, where two people were killed and a church was burned.

According to local sources, a large group of Boko Haram members stormed the villages, firing indiscriminately. One source mentioned that many victims were farmers who had fled earlier violence in the Gwoza local government area.

While a security source reported that 30 individuals were killed in the Doron Baga ward attack, local witnesses insist the number is higher, citing at least 40 deaths.

Attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful as his phone line was unreachable.
