Borno Deputy Gov, over 100 passengers survive Max Air fire

Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, and over 100 passengers narrowly avoided tragedy when a Max Air flight experienced an engine fire shortly after taking off from Maiduguri International Airport.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, when the aircraft, bound for Abuja, suffered engine failure due to a bird strike approximately 10 minutes after departure.

The pilot and crew successfully executed an emergency landing, returning safely to Maiduguri Airport and preventing a potential disaster.

In addition to the deputy governor, the flight also carried several other government officials, including a commissioner, special advisers, senior special assistants, and various aides.

A Max Air staff member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday morning.

The staffer explained, “Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft collided with a bird, which caused one of the engines to catch fire. The pilot responded quickly to ensure the safety of all passengers.”
