CJID set to facilitate media, development conference in Abuja

The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) will be hosting one of the most anticipated events, the Media and Development Conference 2023 (#MDC23), which will take place in Abuja, Nigeria from November 13-15, 2023.

This conference aims to bring together a wide range of stakeholders, including media professionals, academia, donor agencies, policymakers, and tech innovators, to address crucial issues related to media, democracy, and sustainable development in West Africa.

The theme of the conference, “Bridging Democracy, Development, Innovation, and Media Sustainability in West Africa,” displays the organizers’ aim to not only foster innovative discussions around boosting and sustaining the media profession but also to discuss topics such as innovative technologies and sustainable developments.

It is expected that print, radio, social media, TV journalists, and media practitioners from across different African countries will attend the conference in person.

The event plans to have notable experts present educative discussions on how emerging technologies such as AI and digital disruption will present opportunities and challenges for the future of democracy in Africa.
