Customs seize donkey skin, rice, petrol from smugglers in Adamawa

The Adamawa/Taraba Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has conducted a successful operation resulting in the seizure of various smuggled goods worth an estimated N19.4 million. The confiscated items included raw donkey skin, petrol, foreign rice, and a vehicle used for transportation.

During a press conference held by the Comptroller of the command, Alhaji Salisu Kazaure, the details of the operation were revealed. The seizure comprised 200 pieces of raw donkey skin, 127 bags of 50kg foreign rice, and 12,355 liters of petrol stored in jerry cans. These smuggled items were intercepted as a result of the command’s unwavering efforts to combat smuggling activities on both land and waterways.

Comptroller Kazaure expressed his gratitude to the headquarters of NCS for their prompt and effective support, which greatly aided their officers and personnel in their exceptional performance. He also emphasized the command’s commitment to collaborating with other relevant government agencies and stakeholders to curb this illicit trade.

With the determination and vigilance of the Adamawa/Taraba Command, the Nigeria Customs Service aims to persist in its fight against smuggling activities, safeguarding the nation’s economy, and ensuring compliance with established regulations.

“We will continue to work in collaboration with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to address this concerning trend,” added Comptroller Kazaure.
