Customs seizes ₦1.2bn contraband rice, vehicles in Kwara
The Nigerian Customs Service has successfully intercepted contraband goods valued at approximately ₦1.2 billion in Kwara State, including large quantities of illegal rice, vehicles, and other items.
The seizure operation, conducted by the Customs Anti-Smuggling Unit, targeted warehouses and transit points known for smuggling activities. Among the confiscated items were thousands of bags of illicit rice, several vehicles suspected to be involved in smuggling, and assorted goods.
Customs officials displayed the seized contraband during a press briefing, highlighting their ongoing commitment to curbing illegal importation and protecting Nigeria’s economy.

This latest haul is part of intensified efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat smuggling and ensure compliance with trade regulations, particularly in border and transit states like Kwara.
