Dangote Refinery becomes europe’s biggest jet fuel supplier

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has emerged as Europe’s largest supplier of jet fuel, overtaking exports from the United States as demand for aviation fuel from the continent continues to rise.
According to shipping and trade data, the 650,000-barrels-per-day refinery has significantly increased jet fuel exports to Europe in recent months, supplying major markets across the region.
Industry analysts said the refinery’s growing presence in the European market reflects its ability to produce high-quality aviation fuel that meets international specifications while benefiting from competitive pricing.
The refinery’s exports have reduced Europe’s dependence on traditional suppliers, particularly from the United States, highlighting the growing role of Nigeria in the global refined petroleum products market.

The development marks another milestone for the Dangote Refinery, which has steadily expanded exports of refined petroleum products, including diesel, aviation fuel and petrol, since commencing full commercial operations.
Analysts believe the refinery’s increasing exports will strengthen Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings, improve the country’s balance of trade and position it as a major refining hub for Africa and beyond.
The Dangote Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos State, is the largest single-train refinery in the world, with the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The refinery is expected to continue expanding its export footprint as production stabilises and additional international markets seek alternative sources of refined petroleum products.
