Defence Minister Badaru resigns over health issues
Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned from office with immediate effect.
In a letter dated December 1 and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Badaru said he was stepping down due to health challenges.
President Tinubu has accepted his resignation and expressed gratitude for his service, with plans to notify the Senate of a replacement later this week.

Badaru, 63, previously served as Jigawa State governor for two terms between 2015 and 2023 before being appointed minister on August 21, 2023.
His resignation comes as President Tinubu declares a national security emergency, with further details expected soon
