Delta police arrest inspector whose son stabbed boy to death inside barracks

One Destiny Ogbantu, the son of a serving Police Inspector, has reportedly stabbed Onyebuchi Ernest Emeka to death in Police Barracks near “A” Division in Warri Area Command.

The motive behind the stabbing is still unclear, but it is known that the deceased visited the police barracks, where he encountered the suspect.

This encounter escalated into a heated argument and eventually turned into a physical fight.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the suspect retreated to an apartment in the “D” block, where he armed himself with a knife and a dagger and pursued the victim relentlessly until the victim tripped and fell, at which point he repeatedly stabbed him.

The gravely injured victim was immediately rushed to Lily Hospital, but his wounds proved fatal, and he succumbed to his injuries.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the area commander ordered the arrest of the serving Police Inspector (father of the suspect).

The inspector is currently in custody pending further investigation.

Confirming the incident to newsmen in Warri, DSP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, acknowledged the tragic incident, stating, “It’s confirmed.”
