Enugu police arrest 3 Skit makers for assaulting lady in shocking video prank

The Enugu police command has taken swift action by arresting three skit makers who allegedly assaulted a lady in an extreme video prank.

The suspects, identified as Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi a.k.a. MC Sharp (male) 32; Chinenye Agbo a.k.a. Star Ella Ada (female) 26; and Anastasia Onu (female) 25, were apprehended following a widespread condemnation of the viral video.

The video shows Chinenye being beaten, her clothes torn, and her hair forcibly shaved off. Nigerians expressed outrage at the shocking portrayal of violence.

In response to the public outcry, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, issued a statement on Tuesday ordering a thorough investigation into the viral video.

Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that during further investigation, the trio claimed the video was intended as a prank to gain followers on social media.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized that those involved will be prosecuted as a deterrent to anyone who may attempt to carry out such acts under the guise of a prank.

The Enugu police command aims to send a strong message against any form of assault or degrading treatment.

The police operatives serving in Nsukka Area Command of the Enugu State Command apprehended Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi, Chinenye Agbo, and Anastasia Onu on August 14, 2023. The trio, along with others who are still at large, were involved in the video where Chinenye was subjected to physical abuse, including being beaten, stripped, and having her hair forcibly shaved.

The incident was said to be in response to an alleged assault on Anastasia, who is Obed’s girlfriend, where she claimed to have been bitten on the chest.

While the suspects claim the video was a prank, the Enugu Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani, condemned the act and has instructed the State CID Enugu to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute those found guilty.
