Jose Mourinho was offered £12million by Real Madrid, not to take the Tottenham Hotspur job, the UK Sun reports.

The Spanish giants wanted Mourinho to wait until Zinedine Zidane left the Santiago Bernabeu, so he can return.

But the Portuguese were desperate to move to North London, where he has won his first three games in charge.

Mourinho had a meeting in London on October 21, which left him convinced he was the frontrunner to replace Mauricio Pochettino, and he was happy to let any offer from Madrid hang in front of him.

Despite concerns over Zidane, Real still sit top of LaLiga and have booked their spot in the last-16 of the Champions League.
