EPL: Tottenham extend captain Son Heung-min’s contract until 2026

Tottenham Hotspur have activated the option to extend captain Son Heung-min’s contract until 2026.

The 32-year-old South Korean forward, who joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, has since made 431 appearances and scored 169 goals, ranking fourth on the club’s all-time scoring list. Son was named Tottenham’s captain in August 2023.

In the 2021/22 season, Son shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, netting 23 goals. On the international stage, Son has earned 131 caps and scored 51 goals for South Korea.

This season, despite Tottenham’s struggles, Son has managed to score seven goals across all competitions, with Spurs currently sitting 12th in the Premier League.
