Federal Government arraigns Mike Ozekhome, Ponfa Useni over alleged forgery in UK property dispute
The Federal Government has arraigned constitutional lawyer Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and Ponfa Useni, son of the late former FCT Minister Jeremiah Useni, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court over alleged forgery and related offences linked to a disputed property in the United Kingdom.
The defendants were docked on a 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, personation, and the use of false documents. The prosecution alleged that the accused persons forged a Nigerian international passport and other documents purportedly issued in the name of a fictitious individual to support a claim to a property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2.
According to the charge, the alleged forged documents were used in connection with legal proceedings and transactions relating to the UK property dispute. The government further accused Ponfa Useni of falsely presenting himself under an assumed identity to execute documents, including an irrevocable power of attorney, tied to the property.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read in court.
The case follows the withdrawal of an earlier charge previously filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), after which the matter was reportedly taken over by federal authorities for consolidation.
The trial has been adjourned to a later date for the commencement of hearing.
