FG unveils online classes for secondary school students

The Federal Ministry of Education has launched the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning programme designed to expand access to quality education for secondary school students across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the ministry described the initiative as a groundbreaking effort to ensure equitable learning opportunities for every Nigerian child. It said the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
According to the ministry, Inspire Live(s) was developed to address persistent challenges in the education sector, particularly the shortage of qualified teachers and frequent disruptions to learning. By providing live, interactive lessons directly to students, the initiative aims to “democratise access to quality education and ensure no child is left behind, regardless of location or circumstance.”

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation of the programme has commenced, noting that the rollout is progressing with plans to cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3. At present, the Inspire platform offers online classes for JSS and SSS students, running Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
Subjects available for Junior Secondary School learners include Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, ICT, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies.
Senior Secondary School learners can access lessons in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure nationwide participation, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to nominate State Focal Officers to coordinate Inspire activities and circulate programme details to all public and private school principals. States are also required to equip designated schools with ICT facilities and internet connectivity to support smooth delivery of the programme.
Registration for the online classes, the ministry added, is to be handled strictly by school principals through the Inspire support channels.

The statement further clarified that Inspire Live(s) is not limited to public schools alone; the platform is open to all public and private schools nationwide.
