Morocco on Tuesday night became the fourth African country to have reached the Quarter Finals of the FIFA World Cup after beating Spain 3-0 on penalties in the Round of 16 at the ongoing tournament in Qatar.

Cameroon (1990 World Cup)

In 1990, Cameroon became the first African team to reach the Quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup after beating Colombia 2-1 in the round of 16.

However, it was in the last eight that their journey came to an end as England defeated the Indomitable lions 3-2.

Senegal (2002 World Cup)

12 years after Cameroon got to the last eight, Senegal became only the second African team to secure a Quarter finals ticket after winning 2-1 against Sweden. They came up against Turkey in the Quarter finals, but unfortunately lost by a lone goal.

Ghana (2010 World Cup)

Ghana had the chance to become the first African country to play in the Semi finals of the World Cup 12 years ago in South Africa.

The Black Stars won a last minute penalty after Luis Suarez had kept out a certain goal bound header with his hands. Unfortunately, Asamoah Gyan blasted his effort over the bar as Ghana went on to lose in the penalty shootout to Uruguay.
