Final-year student dies during abortion
A final-year student at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has died during an abortion at a private clinic in the state capital. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Al-Hassan Clinic and Maternity, Sarkin Noma.
The student, Omotosho Dorcas, 26, was reportedly six months pregnant. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, she died from excessive bleeding during the procedure.
Police detectives arrived at the scene to take photographs and have since moved her body to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, where it is being preserved.

The person suspected of performing the procedure has been arrested, and the case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
