Former aviation minister, senator Stella Oduah, to face charges of NYSC certificate falsification

In a fresh charge, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Aviation Minister, Senator Stella Oduah, before Justice James Omotosho of a Federal High Court in Abuja. The arraignment is based on allegations of perjury and document falsification.

Senator Oduah, who represented Anambra North Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, is the sole defendant in the case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/275/2023. She is accused of misrepresenting her participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the possession of a certificate to that effect.

It is alleged that she falsified documents which facilitated her entry into public offices, including ministerial and senatorial positions. D. A. O. Oshinowo, who is said to have assisted her, is currently at large.

National News Agency of Nigeria reports that anti-graft agency had previously filed a money laundering charge against Oduah, among others, before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a related court.

The counts in the charge include fabricating incorrect documents and forwarding misrepresented credentials to the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011, leading to her nomination as a cabinet minister.

Arrangements for the arraignment have been made, with a notice already served to the concerned parties.

The proceedings will shed further light on the allegations against Senator Oduah.
