Former Nigerian Senator dies at 69

The Benue State government has announced the death of Rtd Col. Joseph Akaagerger, former military governor of Katsina State.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to state governor, Mr Tersoo Kulai, on Tuesday.

Kula said the ex-military governor died on Thursday, 15th May, at the age of 69 years.

The statement said Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed deep sadness over Akaagerger’s sudden death.

Alia described him as a patriotic Nigerian who gave the nation and Benue State his very best during his time.

He added that as a lawmaker and Senator, late Akaagerger equally proved his quality in politics, business, community service and philanthropy, praying to God to grant him eternal rest.
