Four years after, Gov. Buni re-opens Kanamma market, restores Airtel services
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has re-opened the Kanamma market which was closed for more than 4 years as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.
According to a statement signed by Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Kanamma market which is observed every Sunday has been re-opened fully and is ready for business.
Governor Buni has also ordered that the Airtel Telecommunication Services which were shut down for over 2 years be restored to support livelihoods.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of the Ministry for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Yerima Lawan Mahmud, expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Military, the Police, and other paramilitary security agencies for restoring peace in the state and the North East region which made it possible for the market to be reopened.
Gov. Buni expressed delight at the re-opening of the market which was enhancing trans-border trade and promotion of relations between Nigeria and Niger Republic for many years.
He reminded the people in Kanamma and other towns of the state to remain vigilant in their markets and neighborhoods and to report any suspicious activity or persons whenever they notice one to the security agencies.
The governor expressed confidence that with the support and cooperation of the people, Yobe will emerge stronger and more resilient from the security challenges that have bedeviled it for many years.
