The Oyo State Police Command has said that investigation has commenced following the attack on a Federal Government radio station by hoodlums last Saturday.

Amuludun 99.1 FM in Ibadan, the capital was invaded by some 12 suspected hoodlums armed with cutlasses, machetes, axes and other dangerous weapons.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, said investigations had commenced on the attack.

According to reports, some of the radio station staff the hoodlums destroyed some property worth millions of naira during the invasion.

Among the property destroyed included windows of offices, office equipment, cars and other property.

General Manager, Amuludun FM, Mr Niyi Dahunsi, confirmed the invasion. He, however, said that security agents had been mobilised to prevent further attacks on the station.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council on Sunday in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Ademola Babalola and Sola Oladapo condemned the attack and described it as wicked, lawless and uncivilised.

The Union sympathised with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) management and colleagues who were affected by the attack, admonishing them to be steadfast.

It also called on the Oyo State Government to support the station and those who either lost their valuables or had their vehicles vandalised while the senseless attack lasted.
