Galatasaray opens transfer window for Osimhen

Story by Victor Itodo ABUH

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has confirmed that Victor Osimhen’s loan from Napoli includes a clause permitting the striker to transfer to one of his interested clubs during the January transfer window.

During a press conference on Sunday, Buruk emphasised that the 25-year-old Super Eagles forward intends to complete the season with the Turkish club despite the clause.

Osimhen’s future was a hot topic over the summer, with the player securing a move to Galatasaray on the final day of the transfer window after failed attempts to join Al-Ahli and Chelsea.

“Osimhen has the intention of staying here until the end of the season. He also wants to stay; he said the same thing at the beginning.

“There is a clause there, but it doesn’t matter; he said he will stay. There is a clause about transfers in January. This clause has different things.

“The important thing is the player. The player who decides. That’s why Osimhen says he will stay here. He said the same thing when he came.

“If the player wants to stay, Galatasaray will do whatever it takes to keep him, even if it means pushing the limits financially. While an immediate transfer seems unlikely, a move could happen at the end of the season,” he said.

Osimhen has made a significant impact since his arrival in Istanbul, netting eight goals and providing four assists in just nine appearances across all competitions.
