Gombe govt approves 1.3bn for new deputy governor’s office

The Gombe State government has approved the construction of a new office complex for the deputy governor at the cost of 1.337 billion.

The state commissioner for works, housing, and transportation, Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, announced this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

Kallamu explained that the current deputy governor’s office is located far from the Government House, which prompted the decision to build a new one. The new complex will be constructed at the site of the old Gombe Jewel Hotel, adjacent to the Government House, where offices for traditional rulers are also being developed.

He added that the state government is already undertaking major projects including the reconstruction of the Government House, the construction of a new State House of Assembly complex, a High Court building, and a new State Secretariat, collectively known as the Three Arms Zone.

The council also approved 1.275 billion for the construction of a modern State Fire Service Station, as the current office is being shared with the local government veterinary department.

Additionally, 3.5 billion was approved for the completion of five mega colleges, with the project scope upgraded to two-storey buildings to accommodate a growing student population. The commissioner assured that the colleges would be completed by January 2026.

In the same meeting, the council approved 461 million for the construction of a Police Divisional Office at the Shehu Abubakar district in the state capital.
