Gombe SSG, Njodi, loses sister

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, on Sunday lost his younger sister Hajiya Maryam Abubakar.

Maryam aged 55, died in the early hours of Sunday at a medical facility in Gombe as a result of serious illness.

Her funeral prayer took place at the Gombe Specialist Hospital with hundreds of sympathisers in attendance, including the state Deputy Governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, Chief of Staff to the governor, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Directors-General, Permanent Secretaries and other top government functionaries.

Also present were Emirs of Nafada and Deba, Alhaji Muhammad Dadum Hamza and Alhaji Ahmed Usman.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, in a condolence message signed by his spokesperson Isma’il Uba Misilli, described the death of Hajiya Maryam as deeply painful and consoled the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived an examplary life worthy of emulation.

He conveyed the condolences of government and people of the state to Njodi and other members of his family over the loss.
