Gov Buni boosts agricultural production, procures 40 additional tractors to enhance food security
The Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni CON, has intensified efforts on food security by procuring additional 40 brand new Massey Ferguson Tractors to support farmers and boost food production in Yobe State.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Ali Mustapha Goniri stated that the procurement of the new Tractors aligns with Gov. Buni’s food security program, assuring citizens that Yobe will be well prepared to meet food demands.
It would be recalled that Governor Buni has, last year distributed Tractors and other farming equipments worth over N15.3 billion to 5,340 local farmers across the state.
The distributed equipment includes:
100 tractors, 300 sets of ox-drawn ploughs,
1,349 hand-push planters, 530 solar powered pumps, 3,180 bags of fertilizers, 1,060 knapsack sprayers, 10,600 kg of assorted seeds and 10,600 liters of agro-chemicals.
The initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and stimulate economic growth in Yobe State.
Gov. Buni emphasised the importance of utilising the equipment for its intended purpose and warned against its misuse or sale.
He directed security agencies to monitor and prevent the unauthorised movement of the equipment out of the state.
Beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude, noting that the support has enabled them to expand their farming activities and improved their livelihoods.
This strategic investment underscores the government’s commitment to revitalising agriculture as a cornerstone of the state’s economy.
