Gov. Buni commiserates with victims of Gujba attack, provides succour (Pictures)

The Yobe State Government has extended its condolences to victims of a suspected Non-State Armed Group (NSAG) attack in Gujba Town, Gujba Local Government Area (LGA), which occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

The attack, which took place at approximately 1:00 AM, led to significant destruction and loss of life.

Following reports of the incident, the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) conducted an immediate assessment to determine the extent of the damage and provide necessary support.

According to SEMA’s findings, the attack directly affected 14 households, comprising approximately 57 individuals. A total of 12 blocks of rooms and eight shops—largely owned by business operators and local vigilante members—were completely razed by fire.

It was reported that a 32-year-old vigilante member lost his life during the attack, he was survived by two wives and seven children

Reacting to the attack, the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, expressed sympathy for the victims and their families.

In a statement, the governor assured the affected community that his administration would provide relief materials and necessary support to ease their suffering.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures in Gujba and other vulnerable areas to safeguard lives and property.

Meanwhile, residents of Gujba have expressed concerns over the persistent security threats in the area and have called for urgent intervention by the state and federal authorities to prevent further attacks.
