Gov. Buni hosts Sheikh Daurawa, Prof. Maqari for GORBO foundation annual events

The prominent Kano-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, and his counterpart, the National Mosque’s Friday Prayer Leader, Prof. Ibrahim Maqari, visited His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON at the Government House in Damaturu, as part of the GORBO Foundation’s 2024 Annual Event.

The GORBO Foundation, established by Yobe’s Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), focuses on caring for orphans and other humanitarian work for the benefit of the people. The two Islamic scholars, Sheikh Daurawa and Prof. Maqari, were in Damaturu to deliver lectures as part of Da’awah commemorating the Foundation’s annual event.

During their visit, both scholars expressed their gratitude to Governor Buni and his Deputy for the moral and material support extended in hosting the Foundation’s annual events.

The GORBO Foundation, through its efforts, has demonstrated Deputy Governor Gubana’s strong commitment to supporting orphans and humanitarian work. Gubana established the GORBO Orphanage Foundation, which has made significant strides in providing educational support to orphans in the region. In March 2021, Gubana supported the Foundation with school fees and learning materials, benefiting many orphans in Fune Local Government Area.

The Foundation has carried out multiple distributions of learning materials and the payment of school fees. In December 2022, during the seventh distribution phase, 1,165 orphans received school uniforms and educational materials to aid their schooling. Beyond educational support, Gubana has encouraged the community to adopt and care for orphans, stressing the collective responsibility for their well-being.

Additionally, during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in May 2020, Gubana distributed food and other palliatives to orphans and vulnerable individuals in Fune, ensuring they could participate in the festivities. These initiatives underscore Deputy Governor Gubana’s dedication to enhancing the lives of orphans in Yobe State through education, community involvement, and direct assistance.
