Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has inspected communities devastated by floods and cut off from other parts of the state.

The governor had to use a helicopter to access the communities because all roads leading to the affected areas were washed away by the floods.

Governor Buni directed the State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Umar Wakil Dudaye, to commence repairs of the roads to provide means of transportation for the delivery of goods and services.

Governor Buni also directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide the communities with relief materials and those admitted to hospitals should be given free medical treatment.

“We have to act fast and smoothly, to restore life in these communities,” Governor Buni directed.

Meanwhile, the State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the death of 11 persons in last Saturday’s boat mishap in Jumbam while others are receiving treatment.
