Governor Mai Mala Buni’s transformative vision for the Potiskum Trailer Transit Park is on the verge of realisation, with the project now 98% complete and set to unlock major economic and logistical benefits for the region.

During a recent inspection tour, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, led journalists through the sprawling facility, reaffirming the governor’s objective.

“Governor Buni intended to create a central hub where the trucking industry could thrive, equipped with shops, filling stations, and essential services,” stated Bego.

He explained the project’s far-reaching impact, confirming it will generate 5,000 direct jobs and a substantial number of indirect employment opportunities.

On his part, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Buba Abba Kyari, provided a detailed progress briefing, confirming that the park is operationally ready except for the final touches on the drivers’ accommodation block.

He outlined the park’s modern amenities, which include dedicated accommodation, two warehouse blocks, a worship area, a combined washing and service bay, and expansive parking zones covering 86,000 square metres in total.

The project has been met with strong appreciation from the local community. Dr Dauda Muhammad Attiyaye, a prominent community leader, expressed deep gratitude toward Governor Buni.

He also highlighted the park’s dual role in stimulating business and solving chronic traffic issues. “Potiskum holds immense commercial potential, which we are ready to explore, inshallah.

“This transit park will greatly ease town congestion by providing a dedicated parking space for trailers, thereby ending the disruption they have long caused in our urban center,” he added.
