Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The recent drama between former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Kaduna State Chief of Staff, Alhaji Muhammad Dattijo has finally consumed the Chief of Staff who, in a cabinet reshuffle Tuesday, was removed and deployed to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning as Commissioner.

During the recent summit on Economic Development and Investment in Kaduna, the former Chief of Staff, in his speech referred to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as former Emir of Kano but the former CBN Governor was so furious that when it was his turn to speak, he also referred to the Chief of Staff as former Chief of Staff, and told him on a serious note never to address him as a former Emir of Kano again.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s bond of friendship with Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is so strong that a reliable source told Neptune Prime, that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was the one that insisted that Ambassador Ahmad Bamalli must be the one to succeed Late Emir of Zazzau Dr. Shehu Idris.

When he was removed as Emir of Kano by Governor Ganduje, El-Rufai mobilised a team of lawyers and eminent Nigerians and put pressure on the presidency for the former Emir to be removed from Loko Village in Nasarawa State and be moved to Abuja or Lagos, which they succeeded in doing.

Similarly, Kano State government renovated Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s house in Kaduna, according to sources and built a mini palace for him (Fada) and he now goes with his full palace guards just like the incumbent Emir of Kano. Even his 60th birthday colloquium, which took place in Kaduna, a reliable source from Kaduna Government House told our correspondent that Kaduna State Government bankrolled the event with the sum of N25 million.
