Gov. Zulum’s son breaks silence on murder allegation, says his father is the target
Story from Uji A. ILIYASU
Umara, son of the Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, on Thursday, denied the allegation of killing someone in India.
The state government had earlier debunked report of the governor’s son’s arrest over the alleged murder.
According to online reports, Umara, a student at a university in New Delhi, reportedly smashed a bottle of alcoholic drink on a Brazilian national who showed interest in the same woman with him at a nightclub.
Responding to Neptune Prime question on Wednesday, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Zulum on New Media, said none of the governor’s sons “was either arrested or charged with any crime, or involved in any unlawful activities anywhere. It’s a total lie.”
Bundi urged the public to exercise caution when consuming and sharing information.

The governor’s son on Thursday broke his silence over the viral allegation, describing it as baseless and untrue.
Umara said his father is the target of those behind the allegation.
“Dear esteemed Nigerians, I am Umara Babagana Umara Zulum, I am here to address the damaging falsehood that had been made against me.
“It has come to my notice, a baseless gossip accusation against me saying that I killed someone at a nightclub. This is not true. They want to tarnish my father’s name. I have been with my family since two months now, right in Maiduguri,” he said.
