Governor Sule dissolves Nasarawa cabinet, removes SSG

In a decisive move, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dissolved the state’s Executive Council and relieved the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State (SSG) of their duties. The announcement was made during an Executive Council meeting held on Friday, 3rd January 2025.

The governor acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing commissioners and the SSG, thanking them for their service to the state. “Your efforts have been instrumental in driving our administration’s goals,” Sule said. “We wish you success in all your future endeavours.”

Governor Sule issued clear directives for a smooth transition of duties. The commissioners are to transfer all responsibilities and government property under their charge to the respective Permanent Secretaries of their ministries. Likewise, the SSG is to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of Cabinet Affairs and Special Services.

This restructuring signals a strategic overhaul of the state’s administrative machinery.

Political analysts believe the move could be a prelude to a broader reorganisation aimed at injecting new energy into the administration. With Nasarawa State poised for further development, stakeholders are keenly awaiting the announcement of new appointments to determine the direction of the governor’s vision for the state.

The governor’s decision has sparked conversations among political observers about potential policy shifts and the individuals who might take the helm in the new cabinet.
