Grandmother who burnt son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren alive dies in hospital

A grandmother identified as Iforiti Oloro, who set her own son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren ablaze in Apomu community in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has died.

The 75-year-old woman died at the hospital where she was being treated after her health condition deteriorated.

Recall that the grandmother who resided with her son in the same house on Tuesday last week, set ablaze her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren while they were asleep.

She complained that they starved her of food. Three of them, including her son Victor, his wife Rachael, and one of the grandchildren, died in the fire, while the other child was reported to be in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.

The woman also sustained burns while carrying out the tragic incident.

A resident who spoke with Daily Trust on condition of anonymity confirmed Mrs Oloro’s death, saying, “We have just been informed that the woman has passed away at the hospital. The news is spreading throughout the community.”
