Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has revealed what he described as the next steps President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is likely to take in addressing Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.

Speaking during a public engagement, Gumi said the President is expected to intensify security operations while adopting a broader strategy that combines military action with dialogue and intelligence-led interventions. According to him, the administration may place greater emphasis on cutting off funding and logistics networks sustaining banditry and insurgency.

Gumi noted that recent security decisions by the Tinubu government signal a shift toward tougher enforcement, alongside reforms aimed at improving coordination among security agencies. He added that community engagement and local intelligence would play a crucial role in the next phase of the government’s security approach.

While acknowledging the complexity of Nigeria’s security situation, the cleric urged the federal government to balance force with policies that address the root causes of violence, including poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion.

The presidency has yet to officially respond to Gumi’s comments, but security analysts say the government’s next moves will be closely watched as Nigerians seek lasting solutions to insecurity across the country.
