Gunmen abduct 13 in Abuja community, demand N900m ransom

A brazen attack unfolded in the small community of Piko in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, as daring gunmen struck and reportedly kidnapped 13 individuals. The disturbing incident took place in the dead of night on Sunday, with the assault lasting for over an hour without any security presence to intervene.

Witnesses revealed that Chief John Jatau, the Maidakin of Piko, confirmed that 10 residents, including 4 nomadic Fulani herdsmen, were taken by the unidentified kidnappers. Fortunately, one of the Fulani individuals managed to escape their captors.

The helpless community leader disclosed that the abductors have demanded a staggering ransom of N900 million Naira for the safe return of the hostages. Among those taken by the kidnappers are Nuhu Anyiwoyi, Emmanuel Nuhu, Danjuma Ali, Parisa Numa, Ezekiel Jatau, Shekwosa Ezekiel, Roseline Samuel, Salome Jacob, Abyelo Ezra, and Ezra Male.

The source said, “The kidnapping incident occurred last night being Sunday 05/05/2024, at about 11 pm. The kidnappers raided the village for about one hour without any response, or reaction from the community or outsiders, the major challenge the community faced last night in terms of communication with others was a result no telecommunication network in the village, so they picked people’s house to house,

From the community, they picked about 13 people and later released three.

“The madakin piko, he informed me that they have called and they said they need the Ramson of 900,000,000 (nine hundred million). They picked about four Fulani people and one of them is released.”

The FCT Police Command Public Relations officer, Josephine Adeh who was contacted by newsmen through a WhatsApp message, neither confirmed nor refuted the Kidnap incident.

She only asked “When was that” and never reacted as at the time this report was filed.
