Hardship Protest Looms: Reps to hold emergency plenary session

The House of Representatives will hold an emergency plenary session on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, just a day before a planned hardship protest.

This development was revealed in an internal memo dated July 28, 2024.

Signed by Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Clerk to the House, the memo states, “On the directive of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, please be informed that there will be a plenary sitting on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

You are kindly requested to make necessary arrangements to attend, as important matters will be deliberated upon during this session.”

The House, which had previously suspended plenary last week and embarked on recess until September 17, 2024, emphasised the need for members to attend despite the interruption of their annual recess.

The memo concluded with an acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused and a call for dedication and patriotism from the 10th Assembly members.
