How a job applicant turned rejection into full-time opportunity

A man has shared his inspiring journey of perseverance, which saw him eventually secure a job at Tesla six years after being rejected by the electric vehicle company. The individual, identified as @Mikepc1988 on X, revealed how his initial application was unsuccessful but how he turned the experience into a stepping stone for success.

According to @Mikepc1988, he was among over 500 applicants vying for a job at Tesla years ago. Although he made it through two rounds of the hiring process, he was ultimately not selected. A manager at Tesla, however, gave him feedback that would alter the course of his career.

The manager reportedly told him, “You have the desire, the knowledge, and the effort to do this job. But the problem is, you have no industry experience, and you’re competing against people with 20+ years in the field.”

Taking the advice to heart, the man dedicated himself to gaining the necessary experience. Over the years, he worked as an 88M Motor Transport Operator in the Army National Guard, honed his sales skills at a dealership, and even pulled a Tesla from a junkyard to restore it. Additionally, he pursued studies at the Universal Technical Institute to enhance his technical knowledge.

Armed with new skills and experience, he reapplied to Tesla for an internship. To his surprise, he was offered a permanent role instead of the internship he sought. Even more remarkably, the same manager who had advised him six years prior remembered him and acknowledged how far he had come.

Reflecting on his journey, the man shared his story on social media, where it quickly resonated with thousands.

One commenter, @ChrisDungeon, praised his determination, saying, “Congratulations! Many just remain the status quo, but you levelled up taking that guy’s advice. Hope you can do the same for someone else one day.”

Another, @gecffmn, wrote, “Well, that’s a hell of a story! Man, you gave me goosebumps! As a father, I’ll bet your dad is a proud father! Congratulations on your journey!”

@TESLA_winston expressed enthusiasm, commenting, “This is incredible. I love this. I would love to hear more about this Tesla you rebuilt!”

In related news, Tesla has been offering remote employment opportunities, attracting applicants worldwide, including Nigerians. Positions in engineering and artificial intelligence reportedly pay between $79,000 and $270,000 annually, depending on qualifications and roles.

This man’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination, proving that setbacks can be stepping stones to success when met with hard work and the right mindset.
