The circumstances behind the mysterious disappearance and death of Lagos socialite, Michael Usifo, have emerged, as security operatives linked his murder to a lady he has been having an affair with for some time.
News Online reports that the shocking details emerged after some thorough investigations were carried out to ascertain what led to the death of the Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga.
After reports of the missing Ataga, who stays in the uptown Banana Island surfaced, it was said all efforts by family and friends to reach him proved abortive.
Eventually, His lifeless body, with multiple stab wounds surfaced days later in a flat at Lekki Phase 1 on Friday, June 18, 2021, in the morning.
Another shocking discovery made was that several withdrawals were made from his bank account, ostensibly, by his murderer.
Usifo, was a married man, and had attained the position of a manager in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and was within touching distance of his 50th birthday.
Sources revealed that he had met a girl about a fortnight ago, and they started seeing each other.
Being a rather secretive relationship, the manager had rented an Airbnb in Lekki, Lagos, where they would meet clandestinely, away from prying eyes, and with utmost privacy.
Suddenly he disappeared, and couldn’t be reached by any family member or friend.
This prompt a combined team of concerned friends, family members, the police and DSS operatives, even from Abuja, who put so much efforts to locate him, together with the concerted efforts and permission of the deceased’s wife, operatives tracked down the owner of the Airbnb, who received payment from the side chic’s bank account into which Ataga had previously made a transfer for the payment to.
The apartment was immediately traced and broken into, where Usifo’s body was found lifeless, with multiple stabs on his neck, chest and thighs.
It was also observed that the perpetrators had withdrawn N5 million from his account before they killed him.
The working theory surrounding Usifo’s death is that his side chic carried out the murder, as security guards at the rentals confirmed that no third party had visited the lovers besides a dispatch rider, who is suspected to have brought the lethal drug used by the lady.
The side chic, who was last seen on Tuesday when the murder happened, was equally tracked down and apprehended alongside the owner of the Airbnb, who is suspected to be an accomplice.
After his side chic took his life, it was revealed that huge sums of money began to disappear from Michael Usifo’s Guaranty Trust Bank account.
However, a mail was sent to the bank using Usifo’s email address, asking for a change in the account details, that was when the lady got blocked off from making further withdrawals.
So far, GTBank as part of security measures, placed a bar on his account to prevent any further transaction whatsoever.
Though his family and friends are still shocked as to how the lady was able to overpower him on her own, claiming Usifo’s was an amateur boxer who was quite difficult to overpower.
