I anticipate Tinubu’s intervention to stop relocation of CBN departments to Lagos – Senator Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume has expressed opposition to the planned relocation of several departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from Abuja to Lagos.

Notably affected are the Banking Supervision (DBS), Other Financial Institutions Supervision (OFISD), Consumer Protection Department (CPD), Payment System Management Department (PSMD), and Financial Policy Regulations Department (FPRD).

Senator Ndume, representing Borno South, cited concerns about the move, emphasizing that the regulators of financial institutions are based in Abuja. He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would reverse this decision stating, “The regulators of the financial institutions are in Abuja. This is one of the mistakes, and I am sure Mr. President will reverse it.” He anticipates President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to overturn the decision.

Ndume shared his perspective during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.
