I have no anointed presidential candidate under APC – Gov. Badaru

Story from Dahiru SULEIMAN, Dutse

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has said he has not anointed any presidential candidate under the ruling APC seeking to contest for presidency in 2023.

His pronouncement, which served as a signal to those aspiring to a presidential bid further stressed: “For now, I don’t have any anointed candidate, instead, I would remain neutral and support committed and hard working candidates.

His words: “We, as leaders, will try to be fair, just and support committed, hard working and credible personalities vying for the number one seat in the country in line with our party’s doctrine”.

He made the clarification while receiving members of the Collation of Buhari Support Groups  under the leadership of Comrade Musa Gambo Guri, who called on him on a courtesy visit at Government House Dutse.

The Governor, who distanced himself from those associating their political ambition with him, explained that they were doing so purposely to project their interest.

Governor Badaru, however, said he shared a political interest with President Muhammadu Buhari and he will only act on his directive to support candidates seeking elective offices.

On the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar called on youths to shun political appointment as campaign coordinators of ambitious politicians for now, until when it is time to do so.

The Governor, who was very specific to those aspiring to become Presidential candidates in APC said, “I used to tell all those that came looking for my support as Presidential candidate that, henceforth, nobody should bother coming to Jigawa, because Jigawa is waiting for Mr president to guide us on who to support as our Presidential candidate.”

The Governor further called on members of the coalition to shun any coordinator-ship appointment from any Presidential aspirant.

Earlier in his remarks, Comrade Guri stated that our mission to Jigawa government house was to commend Governor Badaru’s style of purposeful leadership in leading Jigawa State to success through his laudable initiatives. He also thanked the governor for his fatherly advice for the success of his movements.
