I will keep working to ensure your political downfall – Wike replies Atiku
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his determination to thwart former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in his bid for the presidency.
In a statement released by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike made it clear he has no regrets about Atiku’s decision to overlook him for the vice-presidential slot in the 2023 election.
Atiku, in a recent interview with Adesina Giwa-Osagie, expressed no regrets over his choice of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, despite Wike’s expectation of being picked.
The longstanding tension between the two stems from the controversial 2022 PDP primaries, where Wike was bypassed in favour of Okowa.

Atiku explained his decision, stating that he left the choice of his vice-presidential candidate to a party committee, which ranked Okowa as the top contender, with Wike in second and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel third.
In response, Olayinka conveyed Wike’s stance on social media, emphasizing that Wike bears no remorse for the PDP’s loss in the 2023 election, which he attributes to Atiku’s missteps.
Wike’s message was clear: he will continue to work against Atiku’s presidential aspirations, ensuring his failure repeatedly.
