IPOB abduct Abia electoral commission Chairman

Gunmen have kidnapped Prof. George Chima, Chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), from his residence in Okigwe, Imo State.

Vanguard reports that four gunmen stormed Prof. George Chima’s house and abducted him. The incident occurred while Prof. Chima was hosting lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu.

Eyewitnesses report that the gunmen attempted to kidnap Prof. Chima using his car, which his driver was washing at the time. However, their plan was foiled when the car refused to start, despite their efforts to drive it away.

Sources told Vanguard that the gunmen later snatched an on-passing vehicle carrying logs of wood and fled with the ABSIEC chairman.

When contacted, the Abia State command spokesperson, Police Public Relations Officer, told SaharaReporters that she would respond after a proper investigation into the matter.

“I will get back to you on it,” the police told SaharaReporters.
