IPOB fighters kill varsity lecturer, escape with victim’s car

A lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, Fabian Chinedu, has been killed by some hoodlums, suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The tragic incident occurred on Monday night at Aroma Junction in Awka, according to a police report.

Anambra State Police spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the attack, revealing that the assailants fled with the victim’s car, a 2006 Toyota Corolla, ash-coloured with Enugu State registration number UWN 158 AS.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing to the public for assistance in apprehending the culprits.

“To this end, the Command, while commiserating with his family and friends, especially the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, calls on anyone with any useful information that can aid the investigation to please come forward in this regard.

“The Command also urges members of the public who might have seen the vehicle or any abandoned vehicle with a similar description to report to the closest Police Station,” Tochukwu said in a statement.
