Iranian IRGC commander, defence minister killed in Israeli airstrikes
Iran’s Defence Minister, Amir Nasirzadeh, and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Pakpour, have reportedly been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting key military sites inside Iran.
Security sources said the coordinated strikes were carried out by the Israel Defense Forces as part of an expanded military operation against Iranian strategic installations. The attacks are said to have targeted high-ranking officials and critical command centres.
If officially confirmed, the deaths of Nasirzadeh and Pakpour would mark one of the most significant blows to Iran’s military leadership in recent years. Iranian authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive statement detailing the extent of casualties or damage.

The reported killings come amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, following a series of retaliatory strikes involving regional allies. International observers warn that the developments could further destabilise the Middle East and heighten the risk of a broader conflict.
