Kaduna tops Northern states in 2023 IGR with N62.48 billion, says NBS

Kaduna State has achieved the highest internally generated revenue (IGR) among northern Nigerian states in 2023, collecting a remarkable N62.48 billion, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This marks a significant rise from the previous year’s N58 billion, driven by initiatives under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

The Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, credited this success to the state’s financial inclusion strategy and expanded tax net, alongside Governor Sani’s reforms, including tax automation through the “Pay Kaduna Portal.” This platform allows residents to pay various taxes online, reducing inefficiencies and enhancing compliance.

Governor Sani’s policies, which prioritize taxpayer services and create a business-friendly environment, have not only increased IGR but also encouraged the return of businesses to the state. Furthermore, infrastructure projects and visible improvements across Kaduna have boosted voluntary tax compliance, with Adams noting the administration’s commitment to a “Tax for Service” model.

Residents are urged to continue supporting the state’s revenue growth by paying taxes promptly, as KADIRS aims to build on this momentum with Governor Sani’s continued backing.
