Kano Assembly dismisses alleged security threats, reveals resumption date

The Kano State House of Assembly has denied allegations that security concerns and the disputes in the Kano Emirates have hindered its resumption for plenary sessions.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, spokesperson to Rt. Honourable Jibril Ismail Falgore, the Speaker of the House of Assembly.

The statement described the accusations as “baseless, unfounded, and untrue.”

The statement was also in response to recent reports suggesting that the Assembly had postponed plenary sessions for fears of attacks and ongoing dispute within the Kano emirate.

“The purported fear of attacks and delay in resuming the plenary session are nothing but the work of mischievous elements within society,” Shawai asserted.
Shawai further said contrary to the report, the Assembly will reconvene on July 15, 2024.

“We also urge the good citizens of Kano State to disregard the rumours and fake news in order for us to work together as a team for the betterment of our state, irrespective of all differences,” he said.
