Kano Board revokes licenses of 8 open theatres for violating rules

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, has ordered the immediate revocation of licenses for eight open theatres in the state.
The revocation, done by the Board’s rules and regulations, was disclosed in a statement issued by the Board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, and made available to journalists shortly after a management meeting.

According to the statement, the affected theatres are:
1. Hamdala Entertainment (Ungoggo)
2. Lady J. Entertainment (Sanya Olu)
3. Dan Hausa Entertainment (Sanya Olu)
4. Ni’ima Entertainment (Zungeru)
5. Ariya Entertainment (Abedi Sabon Gari)
6. Babbangida Entertainment (Balatus)
7. Harsashi Entertainment (Ebedi Sabon Gari)
8. Wazobiya Entertainment (Sanya Olu)
Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman explained that the revocation followed their repeated failure to comply with the Board’s operational guidelines.
He reaffirmed the Executive Secretary’s commitment to enforcing the law and taking action against defaulters.
The Board is empowered by law to regulate all open theatres in Kano State and apply sanctions to those who violate established standards.
It may be recalled that the Board had previously suspended several open theatres in the state for similar infractions as part of its mandate to supervise and ensure accountability in the entertainment industry.
