Kano gov’t reopens postgraduate scholarship applications for first-class graduates

Kano State Government has announced the resumption of the postgraduate scholarship program for qualified indigenes of the state who have obtained first-class honors degree. The information was disclosed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakintofa, on Friday in Kano.
According to the statement, eligible candidates are invited to apply for the postgraduate foreign and local scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic session. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be Kano state indigenes with a first-class degree or its equivalent from a reputable university or institution. They must also be medically fit to travel for the study.

The statement highlighted that the last postgraduate scholarship program was offered in 2015 under the administration of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The program sponsored 503 first-class graduates to 14 different countries. However, there has been an eight-year hiatus in postgraduate foreign scholarships since then.
Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf has now approved the resumption of the postgraduate foreign and local scholarship program, effective from the 2023/2024 academic session, aiming to provide opportunities for deserving candidates to pursue advanced studies.
