KMT declares bid for Yobe governorship in 2027
Renowned diplomat and lawyer, Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, MFR, has officially announced his intention to contest the Yobe State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections, citing the need for quality leadership to drive the state’s growth and development.
Tumsah made the announcement at an event in Kano organised by the Yobe First Movement (YFM), a political group that has been urging him to run.
He said his decision followed persistent calls from youths, women, and community leaders across the state.

“This is a call I cannot ignore. I have accepted your request to contest, but I will return to Yobe soon for a formal declaration,” he stated.
Tumsah, a development advocate and humanitarian, confirmed that he would run under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Earlier, YFM Director-General, Comrade Lawan M. Ibrahim, said the group believes Tumsah has the vision and experience needed to lead Yobe, noting his contributions to education, rural development, empowerment, and infrastructure across the state.
